Evening Classes

Summer Evening Chess Classes!
9 Weeks for the Price of 5! (We know everyone goes on vacation!)
June 14th – August 11th , 2017
Only $79 for the summer session!

Enrolled students attend one class per week, and if they attend a class that is offered on both Wednesday or Friday, they can come to either one each week without giving us notice.

Classes are at Trinity Classical Academy, located at 28310 Kelly Johnson Pkwy, Valencia, CA 91355

Introduction to Chess

Wednesdays, 4:30-5:30pm.

Strategies
Wednesdays: 5:30-6:30pm

Fridays, 5:00-6:00pm.

Advanced
Wednesdays: 6:45-8:00pm

Fridays, 6:00-7:15pm

Elite Training
Fridays, 7:30-9:00pm


Introduction to Chess
For players who have never had any formal instruction. Especially effective for younger players, ages 4-7.
Topics covered: Piece movements, Castling, Pawn Promotion, En Passant, Basic Checkmates, Escaping Check, Draws. (Register online.)


Strategies
For players who have a good understanding of the basics of the game and have already played 50+ games on their own.
Topics covered: Basic opening concepts and traps, chess notation, basic tactics (forks, pins, skewers and discoveries), two-move checkmates, endgame basics. (Register online.)


Advanced
For experienced players who have competed in USCF events and are serious about improving.
Topics covered: Opening plans and traps, middlegame strategies, pawn play, advanced endgame techniques, efficient calculation, combining tactical concepts, advanced checkmate patterns, and much more. (Register online.)

Elite
Mostly Junior High and High School students, this class is by invitation only. (Register online.)


Private Lessons
Levels & Pricing. Most CYCL students do not need Coach Jay ($45/hr) as their private coach. Most of our CYCL Coaches ( usually $25/hr) are experienced tournament players with enough skills to teach players rated up to 1200.

Private Lessons are individually scheduled.
