A Monthly Review of Some Top CYCL Student Videos by Matthew K
Joel’s video, “Stop Scholars Mate,” provides you with very descriptive instructions, and shows you what to do or what not to do if your first plan fails. This video also gives a good reason why you should or should not make a certain move. That’s why this video receives a rating of 9 pawns out of 10.
Daniel uses good and funny terms to make his “King and Queen Mate” easy to remember. He uses a lot of enthusiasm in this video. However, talking and moving more slowly, as Coach Jay always tells us to do, might give the viewer more of a chance to understand each move. I give this video 8 pawns out of 10.
In “King and Rook Mate,” Jason tells you what to do in a certain position and provides a good explanation. He also reminds you what not to do when the position repeats. The viewer might benefit even more if the coordinates for the squares were included in the narration. As you can see, this is a very cool video, and I give it 7 pawns out of 10.
Great job, everyone, we look forward to seeing more of your moves, and we’ll update this column with more of your videos next month.
